Author's Notes: 19 Day, Adjunct to It's Just Lust…currently stalled at part 16...which is what happens when you start with absolutely no plan!
Remus slipped into the Room of Requirement. He was the first of many. The remaining members of the Order of the Phoenix and their allies would soon follow. Remus made certain that the next person came through. It was Kingsley. Bill Weasley was next.
Then he took his leave and Remus slipped away as others entered. He knew it had to be here somewhere. The Mirror of Erised called to him, not literally but figuratively of course. It was ridiculous to look for it. The final battle was obviously upon them and he needed, wanted to see Severus one more time. Not the Severus of this upcoming battle, but his Severus. He had an accidental wife at home with another man's child. Not the life he had imagined or wanted.
He turned around a column at there it was, easily identifiable despite the cloth that was draped over it. With a wave of his wand the dust sheet was gone, and all he needed to do was stand directly in front of it. The mirror shimmered and the words around the frame glinted with the magic they contained. The moment was here.
Remus closed his eyes and stepped in front of the tall mirror. He counted to three and opened his eyes. There they stood, Severus unsmiling but calm with their fingers entwined. It was his heart's desire and his eyes drank in the sight. A voice called his name and came closer. He sighed. There was never enough time.
