Challenge: Day Three Prompt - Lady In Red
“Wow, you look stunning,” Ron said to Hermione. “That red dress really suits you.”
“Thank you.” Hermione glanced at herself in the mirror and felt very satisfied with her choice.
It wasn’t long before Harry was also making appreciative comments, and she could sense the admiring glances of some of the other Gryffindors who were at the party.
Suddenly, there was a hush, and Hermione saw Pansy Parkinson had arrived, wearing what looked like an identical dress.
“Oh!” Hermione gasped. She put her hand over her mouth before she could say anything else.
“Ignore her,” Harry said, “the dress suits you better.” Although Hermione couldn’t fail to notice Harry giving Pansy a few long looks.
It was still quite early when Hermione announced she would need to leave, as she had to be in work early the following morning.
She had scarcely kicked off her shoes when she heard the sound of the floo and Pansy arrived.
“You were right,” Hermione said, “The dress was gorgeous, and you looked beautiful in it.”
“As did you,” Pansy replied. “I’m glad we both had the chance to wear it.”
“And given we were both wearing the same dress, we couldn’t possible talk to each other, so there was no risk of anyone suspecting there was something going on between us, either.”
“An excellent plan,” Pansy agreed. “But I think the time for wearing dresses has now passed.”
“I couldn’t agree more.”
