Luna sat on the stone rim of the fountain in the courtyard, thinking. Well, thinking and counting. It was very important she test the level of Pixspark infestation at various points throughout the school to determine a decent average.

Another sparkle in the corner of her eye. Twelve. Ten more minutes and she could return indoors, and about time, too. She shivered.

'Luna, you have to stop going out in the cold without a cloak,' Ginny said, coming up behind her.

'It's fine,' she replied, 'I hardly notice it.'

Ginny laughed. 'You're shaking so much you're going to fall off the fountain. Or in the fountain.' Luna smiled at her.

'I'm almost finished anyway.'

Ginny sat beside her, warming the air with her presence. 'Doing another survey?' she asked, playing with a red leaf she found on the fountain's rim.

'This is the highest concentration yet. It may throw my results off a bit, to be honest...'

Ginny sighed. 'Here. I'm warm, anyway.' Careful not to block Luna's vision, she took off her own cloak and wrapped it around her friend, then rubbed Luna's arms for extra measure.

For ten minutes they sat in silence, other than the occasional marking of a Pixspark sighting. Then, abruptly, Luna's posture relaxed, and she turned to look at Ginny, who was busy watching a pair of ants carry a Bertie Bott's bean away from the fountain. Ginny felt the shift and looked up.

'Thanks,' Luna said softly. And before Ginny could reply, she leaned quickly forward and kissed the redhead sweetly on the mouth, holding it for a brief moment before breaking. Luna smiled and, without a word, rose from the rim and walked back into the school, leaving Ginny's robe behind her at the fountain.

Ginny sat unmoving, stunned.
