Title: Wishes
Pairing: Snape/Lily
Word Count: 212
Rating: G
Author's note: They deserve their chance, damn it.
'Look at the cute twin pram,' Lily said as she walked past the Baby section, her fingers entwined in Severus's.
For a moment, Severus allowed himself to imagine it. He would never say anything stupid, never do anything to hurt her. She would never give in to that dim sod Potter, instead following her heart to the boy who'd always been there, her best friend.
They would date for a few years, spending starry nights lying on the grass holding hands and cold days snuggling on the sofa watching intellectual films. Then, after they'd graduated and she was an Auror, he the Defence professor at Hogwarts, he would take her somewhere ridiculously romantic and propose, down on one knee, with a long and heartfelt speech.
They'd marry in the fall, amongst the coloured leaves, and it would be the happiest day of his life -- until a year later, when the twins were born. One boy, one girl, both beautiful and magical. They'd buy a little house in the country and be the happiest family there ever was.
'Sev, you okay?' Her voice brought him back to the moment, and he felt his heart sink as she unraveled her fingers from his. He blinked and swallowed.
'I'm fine,' he said softly, '...fine.'
Lily smiled and turned back to the shoe section. He really would do anything for her.
